On Wednesday 22nd of October, a number of select innovative companies presented 5-minute pitches at the One Nucleus BioWednesday evening dedicated to Neuroscience.
The opening pitch was delivered by Dr Nat Hastings on behalf of Cellestial Health, discussing our pipeline of small molecule therapeutics designed to protect astrocytic networks and slow down Parkinson’s. A mix of discussions on varied approaches and modalities followed, from med-tech solutions from Myonerv to a specialised talk by Domainex on drug discovery services. A strong presence of the speakers from the Cambridge ecosystem was noticeable.
Arguably the brain is one of the most difficult systems to understand and treat. While there were many recent advancements in other areas including metabolic disorders, our fundamental approaches to neurological treatments rely on methods and findings largely established in the past century. By combining new tools with novel conceptual hypotheses, we can build on the past knowledge in a robust way.
